Prepaid Cellphones

I think prepaid cellphones provide a great way for people who don't have the money to buy into a cellphone contract with a way of communication. They are also a great learning tool for kids to show them the responsibility of paying a bill and keeping track of their own minutes and making sure that they do not run out. However a lot of criminal activity is used because of how easy they are to purchase and the anonymity of the phone number. I think the best way to solve this is have at least two forms of identification when bought such as a birth certificate, student ID,license etc. Then when bought the name should be linked to the serial number on the phone. People who are using these phones for legal reasons shouldn't have a problem with this and the convenience of having a prepaid phone would continue and also be more secure.

Location Tracking: A Violation Of Human Rights

I completely disagree with putting computer chips in a persons body no matter the age it is the ultimate surrender of privacy and no one should be forced to allow someone to implant a chip in them. If people are worried about their small children I have a mind blowing idea for them. You should never let a little kid out of your sight and it is your duty as a parent to watch them not tag them like some animal and take away their rights. If there is nothing wrong with your kid then just watch them even people with Alzheimer's should never have their body violated I can kind of understand the shoes in case of an emergency because these people have a health issue but I could never violate someone's right to their body and control of it. When you hear "putting an object into someone's body without their permission," a lot of imagery comes to my mind and none of it is a good thing. Putting a chip in a kid who is too young to speak out is incredibly inhumane, animalistic and wrong.

First Post: My Interest in CS408

I enrolled in this class to fulfill my ETS requirement for school but what drew me into this class was the amount of technology I use and how wired in I am all the time. It is interesting to me to talk about and learn more about technology because it is such a big part of everyday life. I like learning the drawbacks and advantages that it provides and how easily people misuse and abuse technology. I have become more interested in the class after going a couple times and find the information I am learning to be keeping with current questions and theories on how technology should be used in the future.
